Our springtails come in a selected plastic container with a lid. As they are small and quick, we cannot guarantee a specific number of springtails in each container.
How much sprintails do you need for your terrarium:Â
Keep in mind that springtails reproduce rapidly, so starting with a smaller population can help maintain a balanced ecosystem. As the population grows, the springtails will self-regulate based on available resources and will not overpopulate even in smaller containers.
If you order a larger amount of springtails we may use different packaging including zip bags or larger containers.
A single container usually includes various stages of insect growth, and these creatures have a lifespan of approximately one year. Initially, only the mature, larger and white springtails are easily visible, while the smaller ones may be harder to spot.
We offer 24-hour shipping for springtails. Please open the parcel immediately upon receipt. Avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures, such as heat or cold, and direct sunlight.
Move the medium with springtails to your terrarium, you can mix it with the soil or place on the top of the potting mix/moss. Make sure the soil is moist and ready for springtails.

I have already seen 3 of the springtails but they are tiny and hid in the moss in my terrarium so will have to wait and see if a colony develops
Hello Linda,
Thank you for your recent purchase of our springtails and for taking the time to leave a review. We understand that they can sometimes be difficult to see, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
All of our springtails come directly from our healthy, established colony, so we can assure you they are thriving. However, because springtails vary in size, it is impossible to pick only the largest individuals. Adult springtails typically range from 1 to 3 mm, while newly hatched nymphs are even smaller, at just 0.2 to 0.5 mm—which can make them difficult to notice at first.
Even if they are not immediately visible, the living medium is full of them. With the right conditions—consistent moisture and a stable environment—their numbers will remain constant or even increase, especially if their food source is abundant.
We appreciate your support, and if you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
