Springtails are a tiny cleaning crew for bioactive terrariums and vivariums. They feed on mould and decaying organic matter, helping to keep your setup healthy and balanced.

Each portion contains a live springtail starter culture in a living medium of soil and moss.

Choose your size

• 1oz: Ideal for small terrariums, moss bowls and small bioactive setups.
• 2oz: A good choice for medium terrariums, larger moss bowls and vivariums.
• 4oz: Suitable for larger terrariums, bigger bioactive setups or several small enclosures.

What will you receive?

The size refers to the volume of living medium containing your springtail culture, rather than the size of the container or a measured quantity of springtails alone. The 1oz option contains 1oz of soil and moss with live springtails, not only about of springtails.

We use a larger lidded plastic container, leaving air space above the medium so the springtails have room to move. Your container will therefore arrive partially filled.

Springtails are tiny, quick-moving and live throughout the medium. We do not count them individually, so we cannot guarantee an exact number or a minimum number of visible springtails. Each culture may contain adults, juveniles and eggs hidden within the soil and moss.

Once introduced to a suitably moist environment with a food source, your springtails can continue to reproduce and establish a cleaning colony.
