We pick our Feather moss in very small batches when gathering our other mosses. This is a beautiful moss with feather shaped strands that will grow beautifully in your terrarium or vivarium.
The moss can remain in our eco bags for a couple of weeks, just keep it out of direct sunlight and occassionally allow some air flow inside it.
To keep your moss happy it will enjoy lots of humidity but it isn’t too fussed about a lot of light. It will fare well in light, but shouldn’t be exposed to prolonged periods of direct sunlight.
This moss is sold in 500ml bags which hold at least 150g of moss.
The perfect addition to any terrarium, mossarium, carnivorous plants garden, moss wall or moss bowl project. Suitable for indoor and outdoor.
Carefully curated from the Scottish Highlands, the sustainably sourced selection includes a variety of cushions and sheet mosses that will add a touch of natural beauty to any space. These mosses are handpicked to ensure the freshest and highest quality for your project. Add a touch of greenery to your home or office with our Highland Moss selection.
We handpick our gorgeous Sphagnum moss from our exclusive sites in the North of Scotland. In these locations there are forestry operations, so we carefully pick our moss before these areas are disturbed by the machinery.
We also spread our picking around our sites so as not to overpick any specific area.
We have Sphagnum moss in either our ‘classic’ green/brown or natural stunning pink varieties.
Make your own moss pole, we recommend about 250g per 30cm of pole you want to make.
Use in your substrate mixes – for example, mix it with sand to make the perfect carnivorous plant soil.
Use as a layer in your terrarium as a natural alternative to mesh above the drainage layer.
Ideal for propagation – especially ‘string’ plants like string of hearts, string of pearls etc
You can see an example of it in the photos and in our YouTube moss pole installation guide here
Please note that as this is natural moss there will be some variances in colour.
The moss looks wonderful when paired with one of our green or pink moss poles.
Fresh moss is also super useful for propagation – see the photos for an example where the moss helped my variegated string of hearts cuttings produce roots. We also have a video on IGTV here

We have a small batch of this beautiful, soft and spongey Reindeer Moss.
We are currently rescuing the moss from our sites in the North of Scotland where there are larger forestry operations in progress. We seek out the moss that would otherwise be destroyed.
This moss is very light so a little can go a long way.
Excellent to use in your crafty projects, in a box frame or moss bowl!
Please note that our moss may vary from the pieces photographed. This is because we pick our moss fresh several times a month from our locations in the North East of Scotland and what can be found may vary depending on the seasons. It is always beautiful and always picked from locations with permission from land owners. We never overpick. If you have any questions about what we currently have, please ask.
Live cushion or bun moss is very versatile. You can use it in a terrarium, your fairy garden, as a soil topper or even for crafts like a moss wall or frame. It is also perfect for making your own moss bowl!
If you want to keep the moss fresh you should give it a good mist or water from time to time.
This moss is great as the buns can be easily split up. For example, you may wish to have a few little spots of bun moss in different sections of your terrarium or moss bowl.

It is lovely clean moss but may have some little bits of foresty things that you can lightly and gently brush off.
