Diagnosis
Mealy Bug – Due to the warmer weather, Mealy Bugs, wake up from winter and like to infest houseplants. Thankfully they are one of the easiest pests to get rid of.
Treatment
Rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and remove bugs, then spray the whole plant with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water. On the Highland Moss website, we have a blog post written about home remedies to prevent and eliminate pests. That blog post can be found here.
Prevention
Remove currently infested plants away from other houseplants in the home and regularly check plants for potential infestations during the warmer months. Clean leaves regularly with water, and mix of hydrogen peroxide or neem oil to remove dust and potential pests to stop prevent infection as early as possible.
