Bring nature and craftsmanship together with our Scottish Handmade Maranta Prayer Plant Kokedama with Feather Moss. Each one is individually handmade in Scotland using soft, vibrant feather moss and a healthy, thriving Maranta (commonly known as a Prayer Plant). No two are exactly alike—each kokedama is unique in shape, texture, and finish.
This traditional Japanese method, inspired by bonsai techniques, replaces standard plant pots with a living moss ball—perfect for displaying orchids in a stylish, eco-conscious way.
Whether you’re looking for a meaningful gift or a striking plant feature for your own space, our Maranta Prayer Plant Kokedama is a timeless and sustainable choice.

Illustrated care instructions by local artists
Optional extras: natural jute string, display stand, misting spray bottle, trimming scissors
Your Kokedama can be displayed in a variety of ways to suit your style. It can sit on a decorative dish or bowl, adding a grounded, sculptural element to any surface. Alternatively, it can be suspended using clear fishing wire for a floating effect, or hung with natural jute string for a more rustic, earthy look. Whether sitting or hanging, it’s a beautiful way to showcase your orchid.
Kokedama (苔玉) means “moss ball” in Japanese and comes from traditional bonsai practice. Instead of planting in a pot, the roots are wrapped in moss, forming a sculptural, minimalist display. It’s a beautiful way to connect with plants and bring calm to your space.
Feather Moss Issues:
Moss turning yellow or dry? This usually means it needs more water—try soaking more frequently or increasing misting.
Moss turning brown? It may be overwatered—allow it to dry slightly between soakings.
Bleached or pale moss? This can be caused by too much direct sunlight. Move your kokedama to a spot with bright but indirect light.
Maranta Prayer Plant Issues:
Leaves curling or folding during the day? Often a sign of low humidity or underwatering—mist more frequently and check moisture levels.
Leaf edges turning brown or crispy? This may be due to dry air, hard water, or too much direct sunlight. Try filtered water and increase humidity.
Faded leaf patterns or loss of colour? The plant may need more light—move it to a brighter spot (but still out of direct sun).
Drooping leaves or limp stems? Could be caused by too much water—ensure the moss has time to dry slightly between soaks.
