Fresh Premium Sphagnum Moss In Classic Green/Brown
From: £4.00
We handpick our gorgeous Sphagnum moss from our exclusive sites in the North of Scotland. In these locations there are forestry operations, so we carefully pick our moss before these areas are disturbed by the machinery.
We also spread our picking around our sites so as not to overpick any specific area.
We have Sphagnum moss in either our ‘classic’ green/brown or natural stunning pink varieties.
- Make your own moss pole, we recommend about 250g per 30cm of pole you want to make.
- Use in your substrate mixes – for example, mix it with sand to make the perfect carnivorous plant soil.
- Use as a layer in your terrarium as a natural alternative to mesh above the drainage layer.
- Ideal for propagation – especially ‘string’ plants like string of hearts, string of pearls etc
You can see an example of it in the photos and in our YouTube moss pole installation guide here
Please note that as this is natural moss there will be some variances in colour.
The moss looks wonderful when paired with one of our green or pink moss poles.
Fresh moss is also super useful for propagation – see the photos for an example where the moss helped my variegated string of hearts cuttings produce roots. We also have a video on IGTV here
Please note that for larger quantities (20kg+) it may take us a few extra days to process this order

- How much Sphagnum moss is recommended for creating a moss pole for climbing plants?
- We advise using approximately 250g of Sphagnum moss for every 30cm of the moss pole you wish to create. This ensures a dense, supportive structure for your climbing plants.
- Is the Sphagnum moss suitable for use in terrariums?
- Yes, our Sphagnum moss is ideal for terrariums. Use it as a natural layer above the drainage system to maintain moisture and health of the terrarium ecosystem.
- Can I expect uniform colour in the Sphagnum moss I order?
- As our moss is a completely natural product, some variance in colour is normal. Each batch may have slight differences, adding to the unique aesthetic of the moss.
