Bring nature indoors with our Classic Ficus Bonsai Terrarium and three stones, a beautifully handcrafted living ecosystem made in our Highland Moss workshop in Aberdeen. This bioactive terrarium comes fully assembled in a classic glass container (height 26 cm, base width 17 cm) with a natural cork lid that seals and sustains the miniature ecosystem inside.
We deliver across the UK, arriving fully assembled and ready to enjoy. You may only need to add the decorative stones included in the package. Each one is designed so you can simply sit back, relax and admire its natural beauty.
Handcrafted with our own ethically handpicked Scottish moss featured at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and BBC Gardeners’ World gardens, this elegant terrarium makes a perfect gift or natural home decor piece.

Each terrarium features a lush Ficus Ginseng bonsai tree growing in our handmade peat-free terrarium potting mix containing activated charcoal, sphagnum moss and other natural ingredients that promote ideal moisture balance, water flow and oxygen circulation. The base is carefully layered for stability and long-term plant health, creating the perfect environment for your bonsai and moss to thrive.
To make caring for your terrarium effortless, we have made it bioactive by introducing springtails, tiny beneficial microfauna that live on the soil surface. These harmless insects naturally break down dead organic matter, keeping your terrarium clean, balanced and self-sustaining.
Every terrarium includes beautifully illustrated care guides and step-by-step instructions on how to maintain your mini garden and even create your own terrarium in the future.
Your Ficus bonsai terrarium will be shipped fully established, with decorative stones packed separately for safe delivery. Once it arrives, gently unwrap it, reposition any moss or plants that may have shifted and remove any soil from the glass walls if needed. The moss and plants might appear slightly compressed from transport but they will quickly recover and regain their natural beauty.
Each terrarium is unique, with natural variations in shape, size and arrangement. Pictures represent examples, and the exact appearance of plants and moss may vary, making every terrarium a one-of-a-kind creation.
We carefully prepare and hold each terrarium in our workshop to allow it to settle before sending. If a plant dies within 14 days of receiving your order, please send us clear photographs and we will be happy to offer a replacement of the same or a similar plant. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for terrariums that have been overwatered, modified or otherwise altered after delivery.
- How should I care for my terrarium to ensure it remains healthy and beautiful?
- Keep the terrarium in indirect sunlight and avoid overwatering, as the bioactive setup with springtails helps maintain the ecosystem. If soil appears on the glass, gently wipe it off to maintain clarity.
- Can I add other plants to the terrarium?
- It’s best to avoid adding additional plants as the ecosystem is carefully balanced for the Ficus bonsai and accompanying moss. Introducing new plants can disrupt the moisture and nutrient balance.
- What should I do if my terrarium arrives with plants or moss displaced?
- Gently reposition any shifted plants or moss, and remove loose soil from the glass. The plants may appear compressed after shipping, but they will soon recover their form.
