Oxalis Triangularis Care Guide: The False Shamrock Plant
Oxalis triangularis, commonly known as the false shamrock, is a perennial plant from the Oxalidaceae family. This easy-to-care-for houseplant is known for its striking deep burgundy leaves and delicate small flowers.
The leaves of the false shamrock open during the day and close at night. After experiencing travel stress, the plant may take a few hours to start responding to light again. To help it thrive, place the plant in a bright location and water it when the top layer of soil feels dry.
Oxalis triangularis enters a dormant phase once a year, typically during winter. During this time, the leaves will stop growing and may not open. Allow all the leaves to die back and then remove any dead foliage. During dormancy, keep the plant in a cooler, darker location and water it lightly every few weeks. After approximately three months, move the plant back to a bright, warm spot to encourage new growth.
Please note that the Oxalis triangularis is toxic to pets. Keep it out of reach of cats, dogs, and other animals to ensure their safety.
It should just take a few seconds but can take up to a minute to write your guide.
