Mini Marimo Moss Ball Jar – With Illustrated Care Guide
Bring a little magic into your home with this super tiny Marimo moss ball jar, just 4cm tall with a natural cork lid. Each jar includes a hand-selected Marimo moss ball nestled among a mix of sparkling crystals and gemstones. Simply add cold water at home and enjoy your very own miniature aquatic world.
Every Marimo moss ball is unique in size and shape, meaning no two jars are ever exactly the same. Each kit also comes with a beautifully illustrated care guide so you can look after your new green companion with ease.
We handpick our gorgeous Sphagnum moss from our exclusive sites in the North of Scotland. In these locations there are forestry operations, so we carefully pick our moss before these areas are disturbed by the machinery.
We also spread our picking around our sites so as not to overpick any specific area.
We have Sphagnum moss in either our ‘classic’ green/brown or natural stunning pink varieties.
Make your own moss pole, we recommend about 250g per 30cm of pole you want to make.
Use in your substrate mixes – for example, mix it with sand to make the perfect carnivorous plant soil.
Use as a layer in your terrarium as a natural alternative to mesh above the drainage layer.
Ideal for propagation – especially ‘string’ plants like string of hearts, string of pearls etc

Please note that as this is natural moss there will be some variances in colour.
The moss looks wonderful when paired with one of our green or pink moss poles.

Marimo Moss Ball Cladophora isn’t really a moss, it is a phenomenon of algae that grows in a ball shape from the inside out! This naturally grows in freshwater lakes in Scotland, Estonia, Iceland, Japan and Australia. Often called a water pet due to fluffy, velvety texture.
You will receive only marimo moss ball without a glass jar with a cork lid, stones & shells for the base and care gudies. To reduce waste all balls will be pack in one, reusable zip bag.
We pick our feather moss in small batches from our local private working forests. At these locations the moss can be destroyed due to the forestry operations, so we find a new life for it. This is a beautiful moss with feather-shaped strands that will grow beautifully in your terrarium or vivarium.
Your feather moss may be one or more of a few different species which all commonly grow together or in similar conditions:
Glittering Wood Moss (Hylocomium splendens)
Common Tamarisk Moss (Thuidium tamariscinum)
Common Hook Moss (Cratoneium commutatum)
This moss is also often known as fern moss, silky forklet moss, glittering wood moss orstairstep moss.
To keep your moss happy it will enjoy lots of humidity but it isn’t too fussed about a lot of light. It will fare well in light, but shouldn’t be exposed to prolonged periods of direct sunlight.
