How does Diatomaceous Earth work?
Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring sand extract that forms over millions of years. It has a high silica content that absorbs lipids and fats from the waxy outer layer of the exoskeletons of many species of insects. This kills the fungus gnat and keeps your plants happy.
Notes: DE acts as a desiccant and abrasive. It works only while dry and undisturbed.
Does diatomaceous earth kill fungus gnats?
Yes, it helps control fungus gnat larvae by dehydrating them when they come into contact with the powder.
Is diatomaceous earth safe for houseplants?
Yes, when used correctly on the soil surface it is safe for plants and commonly used in indoor plant care.
How long does it take to work?
You may start to see improvement within a few days, but full control depends on consistent application and breaking the gnat lifecycle.
Why use diatomaceous earth?
✔️ Natural pest control for fungus gnats
✔️ Helps target larvae in the soil
✔️ Suitable for houseplants and terrariums
✔️ Easy to apply and long-lasting
✔️ Chemical-free solution
Diatomaceous earth must be dry to work effectively, so it is best used on the surface of slightly dried soil. It can also help with other pests such as root mealybugs and slugs.
How to use
Let the top 1 to 2 cm of soil dry out. Lightly dust a thin, even layer over the soil surface and around the inner rim and drainage holes. For problem areas, gently work a small amount into the top layer of soil. Reapply after watering once the surface has dried again.
Important
Always apply when dry, as moisture reduces effectiveness. Avoid heavy application directly on delicate roots.

Excellent for pest control. I heavily dust and mix on the top of the soil, then mix some with water for extra penetration.
