Pinguicula Agnata Butterwort is a compact carnivorous houseplant loved for its sticky, pest-trapping leaves. Also known as a Butterwort plant, this unusual houseplant naturally helps catch fungus gnats and other small flying insects, making it a useful addition to indoor plant collections.
Its neat rosette shape and fresh green leaves make it attractive as well as practical. Pinguicula Agnata is a great choice for shelves, windowsills, plant cabinets and bright indoor spaces. It is also easier to care for than many people expect, making it suitable for beginners as well as carnivorous plant collectors.
Place your Butterwort in bright, indirect light and avoid strong direct sun. Keep the growing medium lightly moist using rainwater, distilled water or another low mineral water source where possible. Avoid normal houseplant fertiliser, as carnivorous plants are adapted to low nutrient conditions.
This plant can help reduce fungus gnats, but it works best alongside good plant care. Avoid overwatering nearby plants, remove decaying leaves and allow suitable plants to dry slightly between watering to help reduce fungus gnat breeding conditions.
