- Moderate Size: Typically reaching over 1,5 meters in height, this plant is ideal for medium and large-sized indoor spaces.
- Air-Purifying Qualities: Like many houseplants, the Alocasia contributes to a healthier indoor environment. The plant filters the air from toxins, promoting cleaner and fresher air in your home and workplace.
Due to size, the plant is available only for collection from our shop, height +/-110cm.
It is important to note that the Alocasia may go into dormancy during the winter months. During this time, the plant may lose some leaves or slow its growth. This is a natural process for many tropical plants, and it is important to continue caring for the plant even while it is dormant.
Alocasia requires bright, indirect light and well-draining soil that is kept consistently moist during summer. During winter wait until the soil dries out between watering. Overwatering can lead to root rot and kill the plant as a result. Additionally, the plant benefits from regular fertilization during the growing season.
As the Alocasia is a larger plant with bigger leaves, it is possible that there may be some cosmetic damage to the leaves. This is a common occurrence during the transport and handling of the plant. However, this does not affect the health of the plant.
Not Pet Friendly
- How should I care for my Alocasia during its dormancy period in winter?
- Continue to care for your plant by allowing the soil to dry out between waterings and placing it in a spot with bright, indirect light. Although growth slows down, maintaining these conditions helps ensure it thrives once the growing season resumes.
- Can the Alocasia Regal Shields be placed in any indoor environment?
- This plant is best suited for medium to large-sized spaces due to its potential height of over 1.5 meters. It requires bright, indirect light, so a spot near a window with filtered sunlight is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
- Is the Alocasia Regal Shields considered a sustainable choice for indoor plants?
- Yes, it is a sustainable choice as it has air-purifying qualities that improve indoor air quality. By filtering toxins, it contributes to a healthier living environment, making it both a beautiful and functional addition to your home or office.
☀️ Light
☀️☀️▫️ (Medium)
The Alocasia Regal Shields thrives in bright, indirect light. Position it where the sunlight is filtered through a curtain or placed a little away from a south or east-facing window. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves.
💧 Water
💧💧▫️ (Medium)
Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season (spring and summer). In winter, allow the topsoil to dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering can cause root rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage.
🌡️ Temperature
🌡️🌡️▫️ (Average)
Alocasia prefers temperatures between 18°C – 24°C. It’s best to avoid sudden temperature drops and drafts, as these can stress the plant.
💦 Humidity
💦💦💦 (High)
This tropical plant loves humidity. Aim for a humidity level of 60% or higher. Regular misting, a pebble tray, or a humidifier can help achieve this environment.
🪴 Repotting
Alocasia Regal Shields should be repotted every two to three years or when it outgrows its pot. Use a well-draining soil mix to promote healthy root growth.
🐾 Pet Friendliness
It’s important to note that the Alocasia is not pet-friendly. Keep it out of reach of curious pets to avoid any accidental ingestion, which can be harmful.
✅🪴 Recommended Locations at Home
This stunning plant fits well in medium to large spaces, like living rooms or spacious hallways, ideally where it can be a focal point.
