The Euphorbia Monadenium Guentheri has a unique, sculptural form and looks more like a modern architecture building than a houseplant! This succulent plant features unusual cylindrical, branching stems with a deep green hue, which looks like a snake hence the common name snake or a sausage plant. The stems may develop a reddish colour when exposed to lots of bright light, adding to its visual appeal.

Ideal for both beginners and experienced plant collectors, this Euphorbia variety is super easy to care for. It requires minimal watering and thriving neglected. Make sure to allows the soil dries out between waterings.

Euphorbia loves bright, indirect sunlight. A spot near a sunny window where it can bath in the morning or late afternoon direct sunlight would be perfect. Avoid direct midday sun, which may cause the leaves to scorch.

Like many houseplants, it helps purify the air in your home, making it not just beautiful but also beneficial.  As with many Euphorbias, the sap can be irritating to a skin or eyes and toxic if ingested, so please handle it with care and keep away from pets and children.

Euphorbia has to be one of the most weirdly interesting species of plants. The family Euphorbiaceae contains around 2000 different species with almost half of these being categorised as succulents. There are not many other families of plants that have such a wide and eclectic range of species within them. Species can range from annual to perennial, herbaceous shrubs to full-grown trees, being armed with vicious spikes to growing soft and velvety foliage. They really do have something for everyone but the thing that brings them all together as one happy family is the milky white latex sap they produce to heal their wounds and protect them from herbivores.

How often should I water my Euphorbia Monadenium Guentheri?
Water the plant sparingly, allowing the soil to completely dry out between waterings. During winter, reduce watering even further to mimic its natural dormant period.
Is the Euphorbia Monadenium Guentheri suitable for beginners?
Yes, this Euphorbia is an excellent choice for beginners due to its minimal care requirements and resilience. It’s a great plant to start with if you’re new to houseplants.
Can this plant be placed in direct sunlight?
It’s best to avoid placing it in direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves. However, it thrives in bright, indirect sunlight or in a spot with direct morning or late afternoon sun.
