Description
Umbilicus rupetris is a great choice for any level of plant parent, whether you’re a plant pro or just starting out!
Indoor Care: The plant thrives in a well-lit spot with indirect sunlight, but can also tolerate lower-light conditions. Water the plant when the soil feels dry to the touch, and make sure to avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot. This houseplant also appreciates occasional misting to provide additional moisture. Prune back any leggy stems to promote bushier growth.
Outdoor Care: In an outdoor setting, Umbilicus rupetris is a hardy plant perfect for rock gardens, terracotta pots or ground cover. It prefers well-draining soil and partial to full sun exposure. Water the plant regularly, especially during summer when is hot and dry weather, but be careful not to saturate the soil.
The easiest way to propagate the plant is by division: Gently remove the plant from its pot, and carefully separate the root system into several sections. Each section should have a portion of the stem and several leaves. Plant the sections in individual pots filled with good-quality potting soil, and water the plant.
