Syngonium is a magical species of plant known for its light and bright colours. There are around 35 different species that make up the genus which belongs to the Araceae (Arum) family, with only a small handful being domesticated and cultivated for houseplants. These delicate and beautiful woody vines can grow up to 20 metres in their natural habitats and can be found in the tropical forests of Southern Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil and the West Indies.

Syngonium can dominate their natural environment with their ability to use aerial roots to grow on the forest floor. Once they stumble across a host tree, they will start to climb the trunk and continue their journey upwards.

I did not expect the items in my order to be so stunning and utterly joyous! The moss just sprang into verdant glory as soon as I unshackled it from its wax paper and unleashed it in its prepared spot in the miniature Lord of the Rings mood garden 🤪 As I said to the postie, forget snow to eskimos, we are shipping moss to Argyll! Lovely wee selection. The moss pole with cup is brilliantly designed and will make my monstera much happier in a room heated with a log burner and near a radiator. She is already very tolerant and happy but this will hopefully set her up for winter. A daily drench of warmed rainwater on that pole will recreate Amazonia for a plant that in my experience loves heat as long as humidity is good and I’m confident she will take over the world. Please never stop doing extensions!

The moss arrived on the day promised. It was extremely well packaged. We laid it in the hedgehog Safe Garden until Orna’s leg is strong enough for her to be released. She likes it so much she is digging bits up and making a nice soft bed. Thank you to the Highland Moss team for all their advice in the choice of moss.
