Hi Gill, thank you for your question. There is no drainage hole on this item. We advise a base of leca pebbles to create a drainage layer. This bowl is ideal for two extremes of plants – either for a succulent and cactus garden which requires very little watering, or, as a carnivorous bog bowl which should stay wet at all times.
