Care Guide

Light Requirements
Philodendron Florida Green thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions, but its growth may slow, and the leaves might lose some of their vibrant color. Avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

Watering
Water your Philodendron Florida Green when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage. Reduce watering frequency during the winter months when the plant’s growth naturally slows.

Temperature and Humidity
This Philodendron prefers warm, humid environments. Ideal temperatures range from 18-27ยฐC (65-80ยฐF). To maintain humidity, especially in dry indoor conditions, mist the plant regularly or place it near a humidifier. A humidity tray filled with water and pebbles can also help keep the air around the plant moist.

Soil and Fertilizer
Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and orchid bark, to provide the ideal growing conditions for your Philodendron Florida Green. Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Cut back on fertilizing in the fall and winter.

Support with Fresh Highland Moss Pole
To encourage healthy growth and maintain its upright form, your Philodendron Florida Green will benefit from the support of a fresh Highland Moss pole. The moss pole provides a structure for the plant to climb, helping it develop stronger stems and larger leaves, enhancing its natural beauty.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  1. Yellowing Leaves: Yellow leaves are often a sign of overwatering. Check the soil moisture and ensure the pot has adequate drainage. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again.
  2. Brown Leaf Edges: Brown edges on the leaves can be caused by low humidity or underwatering. Increase humidity around the plant by misting regularly, using a humidifier, or placing a humidity tray nearby.
  3. Drooping Leaves: If the leaves are drooping, it could indicate either underwatering or overwatering. Check the soil moisture and adjust your watering schedule accordingly. Ensure the plant is not sitting in waterlogged soil.
  4. Slow Growth: Slow or stunted growth can result from insufficient light or nutrient deficiencies. Move the plant to a brighter location with indirect light and consider fertilizing more regularly during the growing season.
  5. Pests: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. Regularly inspect the leaves and stems for signs of infestation. Treat any pests promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil to keep your Philodendron healthy and pest-free.
