The plant would enjoy a warm spot in bright indirect light, keep the soil slightly moist all the time but make sure that is not soggy, or too much water, and her leaves will turn yellow. To keep her super happy use house plant food every month during the growing season.
To prevent crispy edges of leaves, maintain humidity by putting the pot on a tray filled with water and clay pebbles. Make sure that the pot does not touch the water. To encourage growth and maintain humidity, provide high humidity and a sphagnum moss pole, she loves to climb!

Not pet friendly
☀️☀️▫️ (Medium)
Monstera Dubia thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. A spot near a window with a sheer curtain would be ideal to filter the light.
💧💧▫️ (Medium)
Keep the soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in the winter months to prevent overwatering.
🌡️🌡️🌡️ (Warm)
Monstera Dubia prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 18°C to 27°C. Avoid placing your plant near draughty areas or radiators to prevent temperature fluctuations.
💦💦💦 (High)
This plant loves humidity! Maintain high humidity by misting the leaves regularly or placing the pot on a tray with water and pebbles. Ensure the pot does not sit directly in the water to avoid root rot.
Monstera Dubia should be repotted every 2-3 years or when it outgrows its pot. Use a well-draining potting mix to promote healthy growth. Consider adding a moss pole during repotting to support its climbing nature.
This plant is not pet-friendly. It can be toxic if ingested by pets, so it’s best kept out of reach of curious pets.
Place your Monstera Dubia in a well-lit bathroom to take advantage of the natural humidity, or in a bright living room. Just make sure it’s away from direct sunlight and not too close to heating sources.
Yes, the Monstera Dubia is known for its air-purifying qualities. It can help remove toxins from the air, making it a great addition to your home or office.
Monstera Dubia is a unique and visually appealing plant due to its shingle-like growth pattern where leaves lie flat against a support, resembling tiles or shingles. This climbing nature makes it a perfect candidate for vertical spaces in your home.

Introduction and History Monstera plants, often called Swiss cheese plants due to their iconic fenestrated leaves, are native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Monstera deliciosa was formally described in 1849 by Danish botanist Frederik Michael Liebmann during his exploration of Mexico. Monstera adansonii, another popular variety, was described in 1830 by Austrian botanist Heinrich Wilhelm Schott. Monstera obliqua and Monstera Peru are other notable species, though information about their first discovery is less detailed in botanical records.
In addition to naturally occurring species, certain cultivars have been developed:
These discoveries and innovations have solidified Monsteras as some of the most beloved houseplants worldwide.
Description and Features Monstera plants are vining aroids with large, glossy leaves that often develop unique splits and holes as they mature. These fenestrations allow light to pass through to lower parts of the plant in their natural jungle habitat. Popular species and varieties include:
Care Instructions
Monsteras thrive in bright, indirect light but can adapt to lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch their leaves. If you’re searching for “can Monstera plants survive in low light,” the answer is yes, but their growth may slow.
Feed your Monstera with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter. If wondering “how to fertilise a Monstera plant,” ensure the soil is slightly moist before applying fertiliser to prevent root burn.
Monsteras benefit significantly from being trained to climb on a moss pole, as this mimics their natural growth habit and promotes larger, healthier leaves with more fenestrations. Our shop, Highland Moss, offers handmade sphagnum moss poles in classic green, mixed, and pink colours. These poles provide excellent support and retain moisture, which is essential for the plant’s aerial roots.
To make watering easier, we also offer drip cups designed to keep moss poles evenly hydrated, ensuring your Monstera thrives.

Fantastic service as always from Pam, Craig and the Team! Added bonus to get to meet Angus the new puppy!
Great website and very communicative with delivery updates. Minor issue with the interface for the aroid plants bundle: I was unable to select both the base and extension pole, so had to add the latter separately.
Really lovely selection of plants photographed beautifully. I had a question before placing my order and used the online contact form. Craig couldn’t have been more helpful with a super quick response which resolved my query completely. My order was delivered on time and the plants and accessories were wrapped so beautifully with thoughtful little extras which made opening everything really special. I even got a ‘wee gift’ with my order and although I was aware from the website that one would be included with my order, it was just another example of a company who really wants to connect with the customers, even though there must be a financial commitment. I found the website full of useful articles and being able to access specific care guides for my purchases has been extremely useful.
The plants are well taken care of and from the few times I’ve bought from them never had any issues with the plants. 10/10 care would definitely recommend buying either only or in person.
