Episcia is a genus of flowering plants from the African violet family, sometimes called a false African violet plant. This native to the tropical regions of Central and South America plant thrives with medium-high humidity and although is perfect for terrarium and vivarium, thrives in average household humidity. The pink, shiny leaves will add a splash of colour to your indoor jungle, terrarium, vivarium or moss bowl.

The Episcia Cupreata Flame Violet thrives in medium light conditions. It prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. A spot near a north or east-facing window would be ideal.

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your Episcia when the top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch. Reduce watering in the winter months to prevent root rot.

This plant prefers average room temperatures of 18-24°C. It can tolerate a slight drop in temperature but keep it away from draughty windows and doors during the colder months.

Episcia Cupreata enjoys a bit of humidity but will generally do well in average household humidity levels. For added humidity, consider placing it in naturally humid areas like kitchens or bathrooms, or use a humidity tray.
Episcia should be repotted every 2-3 years or when it has outgrown its current pot. Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally one formulated for African violets or similar plants. Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes.
