Crassula Arborescens Tree Bonsai in 19cm pot is an easy to care, large bonsai, suitable for beginners!
Crassula is a diverse genus of succulents with over 300 small and large species and various shapes. The most common and popular are Crassula Ovata, a Jade plant, Lucky plant and Chinese money plants. The plant will bring wealth to household plants which makes it a great housewarming, birthday or wedding gift.
This Crassula Arborescens Tree Bonsai is also called the jade plant, lucky plant, friendship plant, Lucky tree and money plant. Some people believe that owning the plant brings luck and money hence is a very popular choice as a housewarming gift!
The plant will thrive in a sunny spot and likes to be in the water when the soil dries. Like another succulent is very sensitive to overwatering and the amount of water should be described during winter.
Due to the size and age of the plant, there are some cosmetic damages on the leaves. The plant is very fragile so can lose some leaves during transport. Those leaves can be used for propagation, just place them on the top of the soil, keep them in a bright spot and mist regularly until you will see roots!
Not Pet Friendly
- How should I water my Crassula Arborescens Bonsai to keep it healthy?
- Water the plant thoroughly when the top of the soil feels dry to the touch, typically every 1-2 weeks, depending on the humidity in your home. In winter, reduce watering frequency as the plant enters a dormant period.
- Can I place my Crassula Arborescens Bonsai in a terrarium environment?
- This particular bonsai is not suitable for terrariums due to its need for dry conditions and ample air circulation. It thrives best in open, sunny spots like a south-facing window.
- What should I do with leaves that fall off during transport?
- Leaves that detach can be propagated by placing them on top of the soil, keeping them in a bright spot, and misting them regularly. This can help you grow new plants and make the most out of any fallen leaves.
☀️ Light
☀️☀️▫️ (Medium)
The Crassula Arborescens Tree Bonsai prospers in a sunny spot, though it’s adaptable to medium light. A south-facing or west-facing window would be ideal, ensuring it gets enough light without the harsh afternoon sun.
💧 Water
💧▫️▫️ (Low)
This succulent requires minimal watering. Allow the soil to completely dry out between waterings, then water deeply. In winter, reduce watering frequency further to prevent root rot.
🌡️ Temperature
🌡️🌡️▫️ (Average)
Crassula thrives at room temperature, ideally between 15°C to 24°C. It can tolerate a bit cooler conditions but keep it away from draughty areas and cold windows during the winter.
💦 Humidity
💦▫️▫️ (Low)
Being a succulent, Crassula Arborescens prefers a low humidity environment. Typical indoor humidity levels are perfect, so no extra measures are necessary.
🪴 Repotting
Repot your Crassula every 2-3 years or when it outgrows its pot. Use a well-draining potting mix, specifically formulated for cacti and succulents. Ensure the new pot has adequate drainage holes to prevent water accumulation.
🐾 Pet Friendliness
Not Pet Friendly
Keep this plant out of reach of pets as it can be toxic if ingested.
✅🪴 Recommended Locations at Home
Place your Crassula in bright spots like near south-facing windows or in the kitchen where there’s ample sunlight. It makes a great desktop plant for sunny home offices too!
🌬️🪴 Air Purifying
While not specifically known for air-purifying abilities, like many plants, it contributes to a reduction in indoor pollutants indirectly through its soil microorganisms.
✨ Other Plant Features
Crassula Arborescens is known by many names – jade plant, money plant, and lucky plant, believed to bring good fortune. Its sturdy, tree-like appearance makes it a striking addition to any space.
