Native to Mexico, the Sedum Burro’s Tail is an easy-to-grow succulent that can thrive in a variety of environments. It prefers bright light, but can tolerate some shade and is well-suited for indoor living spaces. Additionally, it is drought-tolerant, meaning it requires minimal watering and is a great choice for those who may not have the time or inclination to care for high-maintenance plants.

One of the Sedum Burro’s Tail’s most striking features is its unique leaf shape and texture. The plump leaves are shaped like teardrops and are covered in a powdery white bloom. The leaves are arranged in neat clusters along the trailing stems, giving the plant a full and lush appearance.

Epiphyllum Anguliger Fishbone Zig Zag Cactus

    £5.00 - £33.00 £4.25 - £33.00

The Fish Bone Cactus is not your regular cactus. Unlike most cacti that dwell in desert-like environments, this vivid trailing epiphyte (a plant that grows in or on the trunks and limbs of other plants and trees) is native to the tropical evergreen forests of Mexico.

Found only in these forests high above sea level in warm humid environments.  The official name for this unusual cactus is Disocactus anguliger, some may still know it as Epiphyllum anguliger but after recent molecular research, the plant was reclassified into the cactus genus and family.  It also goes by the common names Fish Bone Cactus, Zig Zag Cactus, and Orchid Cactus. The first two names do a good job of describing the rich green jagged tendrils that burst out of the centre of the plant and hang down towards the ground. But it has been given the name Orchid Cactus because of the stunningly beautiful flower display it can produce.

Often cactus flowers are very impressive, they take a long time to form and when they do they don’t disappoint and this cactus is no different. Producing a large vivid star-looking flower that blooms with bright neon pink on the outside and a pale creamy white in the centre, it is well worth a quick internet search if you haven’t seen them before. But like most cactus flowers this is a short-lived experience with the flowers lasting a day maybe two at best. You will also need to be patient as the Fish Bone Cactus won’t start producing flowers until it reaches at least three years old.

Overall this plant is perfect for those who may not have the environment to house a dessert-style cactus but still want to be part of the club. This very forgiving plant can tolerate lower light conditions and a touch of neglect making it a great choice for beginners or those who often forget to water their plants but still want a touch of green in their homes.

Lithops Living Stones Pebble Plant 8cm pot

    £12.00 £10.20

Lithops are called also living stones or pebbles due to their shape. Would make a pretty unusual-looking addition to your plants’ collection. Extremally easy to care and pet friendly those plants thrives neglected for months without need of watering.

    These plants are pet friendly!

Lithops are probably the most unique succulent if not, the most unique houseplant you can add to your collection. These incredible plants are commonly known as living stones, from the Greek meaning stone face. This is because of their incredible resemblance to a natural pebble or stone. They have developed this look over millions of years as a camouflage to avoid being eaten by grazing animals.

These plants can only be found in Southern Africa, growing across vast areas of Namibia, Botswana, Angola and South Africa. These plants thrive in some of the driest areas of these regions and can be found as low as sea level and in high mountain regions. Often different species are only found in one place and have adapted to thrive in their designated area, this can range from dry grassland to bare rocky ground way up in the mountains.

Lithops are incredibly slow-growing flowering succulents that belong to the family Aizoaceae with around 140 different varieties that make up the genus, with most of these incredible plants being able to live up to fifty years. Some species have developed a wonderful display of colours but the majority are grey, brown or cream with distinct markings like dots and lines which vary depending on the local conditions.

These plants are relatively simple in appearance consisting of two thick fleshy leaves that are designed to store all the water the plant could need for extended periods of time making this plant one of the best-adapted drought-tolerant plants in existence. Lithops naturally will only ever have two leaves at a time, they have split in the centre of the plant that allows a set of new leaves to grow. As the new leaves grow the outer older leaves begin to shrivel as they transfer their water stores to the new leaves and are eventually left with no moisture and die back.
