Stephania Erecta Large Caudex
£16.00
I would like to introduce a beautiful Stephania Erecta.
You will receive one caudex without leaves or the planter. This picture is an example how the plant will look like 🙂
Size 6-8cm
Plant the caudex (bulb which looks like a potato) into the potting mix to provide good drainage. You can use succulent mix, indoor plants potting mix with a high amount of perlite etc. Place the cualex into the soil, and cover the bottom part of the bulb (around 1-2cm). High humidity speeds up the growing process so you can protect the plant with a cloche or use zip bag, please remember to provide good airflow.
How to look after Stephania
The plant goes into dormancy once a year around winter time (but may not goes into dormancy at all or may happen different time of the year), when leaves start turning yellow you can decrease watering. When the plant won’t have any leaves left move it into a darker and colder spot.
After the dormancy ”wake up” the plant by soaking the caudex in lukewarm water for 24-48h, then move into the soil.
Light
Caudices like this plant can get sunburnt, so please keep it somewhere sunny but never in direct full sunlight.
Water
It is easy to overwater this plant, so let the soil almost completely dry out before watering. In Winter the plant will enter dormancy so resist watering it more than once a month!
Humidity
Give the plant an occasional mist and try to keep humidity over 60%.
The plant is toxic to pets.
